Yes. Comparing one kid with another is totally wrong. Every kid is differently talented. Parents need to give space and time for the kids to find out their talent. Destroying their own self-esteem is the first thing happens to a child when it is compared with another child. When kids lose their self-esteem it will continue to hide themselves from opportunities. Those children have an inferiority complex later in their life.
