Why we are not conserving about our biodiversity?

As an island nation, Sri Lanka has a unique fortuitous in the context, Sri Lanka having been recorded among the topmost 25 global hotspots for biological diversity. We have 4000 epitomic species of flowering plants, 59 unique species of amphibians, 107 different species of freshwater fishes, 174 species of reptiles, 140 species of mammals, 435 species of birds and numerous invertebrates. Sri Lanka has the highest density of species in Asia and also has the second highest population density of humans. Because of this high population density and environment development we are endangering our nation's unique biodiversity, which also leads to the extinction of species. We have to protect our biodiversity as there are compelling scientific, economic, aesthetic and ethical reasons or for the values attached to the biological diversity.

Why we are not much concern about our biodiversity?

DO you guys have any ideas on how can we protect our biodiversity?
