Angry Why not a free-ranging/village dog but a high breed one?

Many people these days feel shy to reveal that they own a pet dog that doesn't belong to any of the high breeds. It's sad to know our society is not ready to save a life of a stray dog by feeding it but is ready to spend thousands on a high breed one!

    How to change this mentality?

Sadly there are some local dog breeds become rare and not exist in India. Who knows we too miss some local dog breeds of Sri Lanka. People should know local breeds are the perfect for our country and it can adopt to our environment. The other high breeds are not fit for us and it cause too much cost to maintain.

This is the sad reality, people are looking for posh and status in everything even in owning a pet. Thus, they don't want to own a local breed dog or any other pet.

Well said Assassin, local breeds are well adapt to our local climate, atmosphere and food so they will have a healthy growth and living here, but if we pet a high breed puppies the will have problem to adopt to our local atmosphere and get sick then we need to spent money for them which not good for the puppies as well as for our finance.
