Lightbulb Is ragging good or bad?

Ragging is believed to be a process which destroys the arrogance of a fresher when he/she initially enters into the University campus.

The tradition is that the freshers should obey and be humble to their seniors for a particular period of time hence it is understood that they are under the control of their seniors.
The freshers do have some dress code to be followed which has some restrictions as well.

Do you think ragging is really needed ?

Different people may have different Ideas. But In my point of view, it has a lot of benefits and it remains a lot of sweet memories. That's the only thing we can be happy someday after reminding them again and again. Dress code is also some kind of a change with the beginning of the undergraduate life. Anyhow it is not a ragging actually. That is because I also faced for a ragging period which remains sweet memories. But the thing is most of the people are in the habit of ragging physically. I actually hate this and it does not match with the university culture too.

Absolutely, physical harassment is what makes ragging a bad thing.Students should avoid doing those kind of abusive things.

Ragging is good in the sense of practicing University culture. You may come from a different school culture which is no more applicable in university. So ragging in the sense helps a fresher to practice in the new atmosphere. But when it becomes a violence or abuse it is no more good. I think some of the university students take advantage of ragging by, physically harass, mock or humiliate the freshers which is total crime. It is good to do when they do in the motive of being friends afterwards.
    Let's be the change

Making fun with them is agreeable and like others said it will give sweet memories to remember. Personally I change a lot and improve my anger and focus it on a positive way by this ragging, but sadly not everyone is not adopted to it. So before you do something better aware of the other how much it hurts. Most of the people that seen in universities wish pass what did they get to the juniors and they forgot how much it hurt when they get it. So better keep a limitation for it and have fun. Our fun never spoils or give a bad intention to do something curatorial .

Exactly, most students try passing everything they experienced ,forgetting what difficulties they had gone through the year before! This should be avoided

If the ragging is not physical , and more of a light heart fun teasing, It's a welcome, thing, it helps freshers to overcome their shyness and mingle with their seniors and also help them to adopt the uni life. As Lorraine said it will give a sweet memories for the freshers and the seniors.
You're not going to master the rest of your life in one day. Don't stress. Master the day. Make this a daily reminder.
