Rating: 2 votes, 4.00 average.

The fear of rejection is an unreasonable fear that has made you believe that people won’t accept or approve you because of your own opinions, personality, attitude, appearances, behaviors, ethics or principles. Feeling rejected hurts terribly. It weakens your self-confidence and makes you doubt your own worth. This fear of rejection significantly impacts your daily choices, actions and decisions. For this very reason, your unreasonable fear of rejection is likely to affect your career, your relationships, and your everyday social interactions. That’s why it’s really important to handle your fear of rejection.

Here are the seven ways to deal with your own fear of rejection.

1) Be More Expressive about Your Own Feelings.

Unless you express your feelings, you cannot expect others to understand your fears. Sometimes you need to be vulnerable so that it can help others to empathize with your struggle and be more sensitive towards the matter. Be more open about your insecurities and fear of rejection, it may let others share their own weaknesses as well. Only by being honest you can attempt to fix any issue that comes up in your life.

2) Stop Living in Your Past and Be Present in the Current Life.

Sometimes your past feelings might be affecting your present life. Maybe in the past, you were a people pleaser and your relationship ended on bad term which leaves you with a fear of rejection. But always remember not every experience will be the same. If you keep comparing your past rejections to the current scenario, it will only lead to an unhealthy turn of events. Let go of the past then only you can live a happy life in the present.

3) Don't Have Unrealistic Expectations in Your Life.

If we have high expectations, we end up ourselves getting hurt and feeling rejected when our expectations are not met. The best way to deal with this is to have simple and realistic expectations from people and life. We all make mistakes, disappointing others or let others down and it doesn't mean we rejected them. The same way they also not reject us. Always have practical expectations to avoid the feeling of rejection.

4) Always Remember You Will Survive Through It.

The fear of not being able to survive is the main reason we fear of rejection. Our mind is always filled with questions like "What if they leave me?" “How will I live alone?" and many others. You can move on and live a happy life even in the worst scenario of your life. Sure it will take time but eventually, you will move on and live your life happily. Remember it's not the end of the universe and let your fears to consume you won’t make it any better. Whatever the situation you are in right now it will also pass away. Just make yourself stronger to survive through it.

5) Don't Overthink and Assume Things By Your Own.

It's all in your head, you can create a situation that actually never existed and then make yourself fall into the fear of rejection. Don’t think about what will happen, just relax and wait for the possible outcomes. The other person is probably not even considering it, so you need to let go off your fear for the chances of rejection. Fear always make your life difficult and fills your mind with unwanted worrisome thoughts. By assuming unwanted things you are making life harder for yourself. Your own opinion could be clouding your mind emotionally and not letting you to live a peaceful life. To enjoy a happy and peaceful life you need to stop worrying about the things which are not in your control.

6) Give Yourself Enough Time to Deal With The Things.

Everything needs time to settle down, and if you rushed into things then you may end up with these fears of rejection. If you are not sure about something just express it instead of fearing of the end result. Take your time to learn about things and people and allow some space to build confidence in each other. It will help you to build a relationship where you can trust that the other person would not betray you.

7) Don't Adjust Yourself to Fit In with Others Expectations.

Often times we make compromises to avoid the feeling of rejection. Our life has ups and downs, but that doesn’t mean we can't make things work. Accept everything for how they are and build your relationships on the basis of trust. Always have the willingness to work through your issues. Remember that you are capable of creating trustworthy relationships, also you have the strength and power to make positive things happen for you in your life. So, let go off the fear of rejection and embrace a long-lasting relationship with yourself. Never ever compromise on the person you are.

Conclusion

You have all in yourself to overcome your fears. Don't allow your past to dictate your present life and the decisions you make today. Sometimes, it’s just a fear without any valid reasons behind it. So, don't make yourself defensive, anxious and angry for those unreasonable fears. You can prevent your fears by thinking positively and change the way how you feel and think about your fears. Try out these above seven ways to overcome your fear of rejection and hustle a carefree, happy and peaceful life without any fears.
