Google Taking Prompt Actions on Discover & Google News Manual Penalties

Google initially introduced manual action guidelines for Google Discover and Google News about a year ago, and just a few weeks ago, Google started sending out its first round of manual actions (Google penalties) to news publications sites for policy violations in Google News and Google Discover.

The following are some of the specific violations that were identified:

• News and Discover policy violation: Misleading content
• News and Discover policy violation: Medical content
• News and Discover policy violation: Manipulated media

But the good news is that, following the implementation of changes and the filing of reconsideration requests, Google is now processing and even removing some of those manual actions." Yes, Google is processing the manual actions in a relatively short period of time.

Remember that these manual actions should only affect Google Discover and Google News, not web search.
