Do you have a friend with a dirty past?

We all have friends who have some tragic past and we accept them as one of us even before we know their story.
But what would you do if they have a shady, ugly past?
Would you still treat them as your friend even after knowing that?
The reason why friendship is a pure relationship is that of its acceptance and trust.
After that friend has confided in you about him/herself, would you still treat him/her the same?

In my point of view If you avoid someone's friendship because of their past then you both are not at all friends. As you said friendship is a true understanding,acceptance and trust.
