Why do we consider ambitious people as insensitive ones?

Often when I was in my school days, I and my friends came across some girls who try very hard..Very very hard to shine! Those girls were ridiculed and joked around by us including me as robotic and insensitive.
We often compared those girls to computers and funnily we used to joke around. But the truth is they were just ambitious and trying to achieve something.
Now looking back I feel bad. But there are people who do this still.
Why do we do this?
Is being ambitious a negative trait?

Most of the people act like this because their perspective about ambitious is different, Actually ambitious people are the most sensitive ones,the thing is unlike normal people , they can control their sense to focus more.
