Does time actually heal everything?

Whenever we face some bad situations in our life. Often we hear from people that "Give yourself time, time heals everything." But I highly doubt this statement. In my opinion, time not heals all the wounds. I am saying this because I lost my father 20 years back but still I am crying thinking about him. No one can ever fill the void of his presence in my life. The same way I lost my grandma 2 years back but still I miss her presence terribly, not just these there were some mistakes in my life that I feel regret and guilt till today. So I would say time doesn't heal every wound. In reality what we choose to do with the time is the actual healer to our deepest wounds. What do you guys say? Do you guys agree with my points?
