Can someone explain the difference between white hat SEO and black hat SEO?

As much as I understood White hat SEO means doing the SEO optimization work according the Search engines ethical techniques and on the other hand black hat SEO means doing the optimization work using unethical techniques.

Can someone give me a deeper explanation about White hat seo and black hat seo?
