Yesterday (Aug 22) Forest Fire flared up at a reserve in the Ella rock area in Badulla District. E.M.L. Udaya Kumara the Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre of Badulla said that wildlife authorities are in duty of the region and firefighters are enduring to battle the fire. According to News1st report now the fire has spread through the Ravana Ella falls region and the 24th KM post on the Ella – Wellawaya main road. The fire has also caused rocks to fall on to the Wellawaya main road so police officers in the region issued cautions to drivers using the road. The fire that fumed through a reserve in the Ella rock region since yesterday morning has been controlled to a certain level, but, authorities afraid that due to the windy climate of the region the forest fire could spread once again.
