I've seen parents sending their kids to hostels and boarding places to study just to make them realize the hardships of life and be independent.
Sometimes, that happens when their house is far away from their schools as well. But the effect it has on kids is too much to scar their childhood.
How effective is that? Won't those kids feel lonely and suppressed living in a strict environment when they should be enjoying life?
