Are we giving more importance to selfies than reality?

Nowadays, wherever we go, we are so much interested in taking selfies and showing off to the world, than enjoy the experience available in our hands. Selfies are being treated as a necessity even when we don't need it.

It's not important to take a selfie at every precious moment, but we do that. If it's for memories, then fine. But if it's for publicity, then we should be ashamed of ourselves.

    What's your opinion on this?

Selfies or any kind of pictures that we are taking is just for memories and of course use this for publicity as well! For an example, You are attending a conference and our H.E president or Malala Yousafzai was there and you have an opportunity to take selfies with them don't you steal the moment? Yes like that!

For me, Selfies are like Autographs, its all depends on the way you take and use it

Yes, if Malala Yousafzai was there, I would be there in the queue to take a selfie with her of course. But what about those moments which doesn't exactly involve celebrities? What if it's a mountain climbing experience? Would anyone be willing to take selfies on climbing just to show off to the world that they are climbing a mountain? 1 or 2 selfies make sense, but taking 5 dozen selfies spoil the moment in my POV.

Some experiences should be cherished by just us, with our senses, not via the phone camera lens. No one can 100% capture the silence or the noise or the ethereal beauty of nature. That's why we have our senses, but we hardly use that now, instead we go for selfies. At some point, we get confused whether we are doing something for ourselves or for others.

    Beacon,

Agree with your point of view photos are like capturing the memories for a lifetime. but nowadays most of the youngsters focus on taking photos than actually enjoying the moment. As you said taking one or two pictures for the memory is fine. The sad thing is our youngsters are not like that so we wish they change their attitude. There is a saying " With whom you have less photos ,you have more memories with them"

For me, Selfies are like Autographs, its all depends on the way you take and use it
True, its all depends on the way how we use things
You're not going to master the rest of your life in one day. Don't stress. Master the day. Make this a daily reminder.

    Hey shana,
The urge to take more selfies is considered as 'selfitis' disorder. It is okay when they took it for a memory. But when it is uncontrollable, to take more selfies through out the day and posting it in social media is a chronic level of selfitis disorder. Most of them lack in self confidence, and also attention seekers, they post continues selfies to boost their social standing. Some of them post their selfies for appraises, likes and comments from their friends. If they are collecting their future memories it's okay.. But they should know the limit and learn to live the moment.

Exactly... But this is the 1st time I'm ever hearing of such disorder. Taking more selfies lead towards Narcissism. Anyway Memories are important, but too many selfies would take away the charm of the moment.

Taking selfies are fine but personally I think going beyond the number of selfies is wrong. Taking clicks of places is really fine , but taking too many clicks of ourselves instead of enjoying the real moment is absolutely not fine.

Agreed! Somethings require not the camera flash, but our observation. Living the moment is much greater than showing off the moment to others.

Agreed. How do you think we could reduce this craziness in this world?
