I think windows defender is not sufficient to protect yourself from increasing and smart cyber threats. in my personal experiment, I have installed malware bytes premium trial and tested, It was able to capture most of the threats and protect my PC and data and then I have disabled the malware bytes, and performed same actions, windows defender was unable to capture the possible threats.
